Wpg Free Press is reporting today's opening of Bomber training camp at the old Winnipeg Stadium drew fierce partisan crowds of approx. 7,500.

Bob Irving the bomber radio cheerleader was more optimistic, saying the crowds could approach 10,000 (if you count some people twice).

Still a great opener for the bombers who are tremendous at marketing football, have a really promising PR guy as their head coach (Plop) and seem to do no wrong (other than timing the construction of their new digs) in the community.

7,000 to 9,000 is remarkable. Especially for a team that hasn't won a Cup in nearly a quarter century.

And todays run-thru there were no traditional faves like Diamond Dougie Brown, Charles "Smokie" Roberts, Barrin Whiffalot, Troy 'Banzai' Westwood, Obby Khan, etc. Notorious twitterbugs Jovon JOhnson & Jonathan Hefney have yet to report to camp as they have permission to delay their arrival til early this week (Monday or Tuesday)

Now if we could only figure out a way to win 10 games and get to the Grey Cup again...
