Calgary's top 2 QBs, Bo Levi Mitchell and Drew Tate, have both signed extensions that will keep them with the red and white.

    Official Stampeders Release

    QUARTERBACKS SIGN EXTENSIONS
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import quarterbacks Drew Tate and Bo Levi Mitchell have signed contract extensions. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
“Drew and Bo are both very talented quarterbacks who have enjoyed great success as members of the Stampeders,” said Hufnagel. “They work extremely well together and their decision to sign extensions with the Stampeders gives us great long-term stability at what is obviously a key position.”
Tate has been with the Stampeders since 2009 and became the starter in Week 17 of the 2011 season. Injuries have limited him to eight regular-season and two playoff starts since that time but he has been very productive when healthy, posting a 5-0 record when he plays the entire game. He has completed 259 or 381 passes during his Stamps career (a 68.0-per cent completion rate, the highest total in franchise history) for 3,270 yards, 24 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.

So we've come to the conclusion that Hufnagel likes his QBs under long term (well long term for the CFL) deals. If rumors are right that's 3 QBs signed until 2016. Very unique situation for this league.

While I don't know about the length of McPherson's contract, as Rids had speculated above, the extensions of the pacts for both Tate and Mitchell contain one-year options which would take both of them through the 2016 season:

    Tate, Mitchell signed to Extensions

The Calgary Stampeders have signed quarterbacks Drew Tate and Bo Levi Mitchell to one-year contract extensions with an option for a second year on Tuesday.
Tate was going into his option year while Mitchell had one year remaining on his deal and is now signed through 2016. Both are expected to battle for the starter's role this season.

With that, I think Tate will likely be too old (at 31) by the time his option year arrives, to really give the NFL serious consideration, but BLM will only be 25 by then...and only just entering his prime.

The irony is that it's possible that the so-called "QB of the future" for the Stampeders may not be with us as long as we had hoped...(especially, as we all had also hoped), should he prove to be successful in Calgary over the next couple of years....;)

And Tate, despite being expansion draft bait a month ago, may now be with us for his whole career....

Tate or McPherson could be trade bait depending which of the 2 performs better.

    Sure.

Either of them could be traded.

    Or, even Mitchell.

My comments were focused on the potential irony of seeing Tate here longer than BLM, when, one month ago, no one would have put a plugged nickel on that outcome.
