Calgary Stampeders close off practice, observe new media/fan policy

There’s nothing to see here, folks.

    Or is there?

A new rule allowing CFL clubs to close off one practice per week from fans and media won’t change much, says Calgary Stampeders GM/head coach John Hufnagel.

“It’s really no big deal,” said Hufnagel, who’s closing off Tuesday’s session. “That’s what the policy is this year — that you can close the practice — so if you want to do some things behind close doors, we’ll have that opportunity.

    “I’m just observing the policy.”

Hufnagel is no stranger to closed practices from his NFL days, as rules south of the border state that only the first 30 minutes of each practice must be open to the public.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Monday they won’t be closing practices this season unless they feel information is being relayed to opposing teams.
