    Game Preview

The Stampeders look to get back on track as they play host to the BC Lions this week.

The Stamps (8-3, first place in the West) had their six-game winning streak ended last week at the hands of the Eskimos, losing 27-16 in Edmonton. The Lions (4-6, third place) were roughed up by the RedBlacks 31-18 at home and have now lost three of their past four games.

Calgary won two of three games against the Lions in 2014 but BC played the Stamps tough at McMahon, winning the first game 25-24 in Week 6 and losing a close 14-7 affair in Week 14. The Week 6 loss was the only home loss for the Stamps in 2014 and one of only three regular-season losses for the entire season.

Calgary is 7-5 since 2008 at home against the Leos, including a 3-1 record over the last four home contests.

Last week’s loss dropped the Stamps’ record within the West Division to 4-1 and Calgary is still undefeated at home at 6-0. The Lions are 3-1 against Western teams but have a losing record on the road at 2-3.

Interesting Huf is dressing seven O-linemen for this game, instead of the usual six.

So is Quinn Smith now only OL? Or does he change his shirt and line up on the D if needed?

No, only if needed. Smith is still the emergency O-line plug n' play backup.
Last game against EDM, Junior Turner was the emergency O-line guy, because Smith wasn't healthy.

I think they are dressing 7 hoggies tonight because Federkeil, although he is starting, is not 100%. Also, Brad Erdos is hurt and out. And because Gary Williams isn't really a guard, he's a tackle, so if a guard goes down, Quinn Smith (who has played guard) can fill in.

With all the injuries, Huf has to really juggle the roster.

bit of a scare with the punt return TD by BC but all's well that ends well in horse nation.

by the same token bronko and jayman's team is back in third. for now.

Shitty game by Big Al and the Gang in Stripes again tonight (absolute bullshit call on offensive pass interference on Fuller in the third quarter that kept the Lions in it), but as you say, all's well that ends well.

They shoulda beat an absolutely pathetic Lions club by a lot more!

    Oh, well!

Top of the league at 9 and 3 and undefeated at home! ;)

Very true! Officiating was subpar, but the Stamps were springing leaks on special teams, coverages on both kickoffs and punt coverage, and have demonstrated a penchant for giving up the "long ball."
As for the O-line, one word:Inadequate, very inadequate.
Stampeders have several holes to plug. One week to correct the problems.

All I can say is the Stamps outside of the REDBLACKS game sure have made the home games very interesting and nerve wracking.
I'm glad the team won the game, but I agree with Seeker1 and Tundra Mustang that this team has a number of fixes in all three phases of their game if they want to be considered a threat to win the Grey Cup and defend their crown as "champs".
