New CFL Commissioner Jeffrey Orridge will be in Calgary on Friday May 8th for what is being called a "Major Announcement".

No details on what it's about, but chances a good it will be a Grey Cup announcement.

Press conference is scheduled for 1:30pm.

All the reports now are saying it has nothing to do with the Grey Cup. Heard (read) one interesting suggestion: new stadium?

The CFL commissioner would not be announcing a new stadium for the Stamps/Flames.

Now overshadowing this announcement is the information that 5 CIS players tested positive at the CFL Combine for banned substances.

Sadly, it wasn't a Grey Cup for Calgary announcement, it was announcing Shaw as the first ever presenting sponsor of the Grey Cup

The CFL has named Shaw Communications Inc. the first-ever presenting sponsor of the Grey Cup.

New commissioner Jeffrey Orridge made the announcement Friday.

The multi-year partnership will also see Shaw Communications serving as the title partner of the CFL player awards and the league’s weekly player achievement program.

After Labour Day, Shaw will partner with league broadcaster TSN on a series called Shaw Road to the Grey Cup, which will also be prevalent on TSN and CFL digital properties.

Careful, the last CIS prospect that tested positive at the Combine was a first round selection of the Stampeders...

    Don't give a shit.

Almost everyone knows who the 'riders recruit (and more importantly, retain) on their roster...;)

I was expecting to see Calgary win the cup at home in 2016 but instead got the surprise of seeing them win on the Year of the Horse which is equivalent. I was just a couple years off. :palm:
