Leafs are clearly putrid but still put up the odd competitive game. Jets (my homies) are in a playoff position but painful as all git out to watch (even before their current 3 game winless streak)

Leafs don't have many key pieces to build a proper NHL team - Phaneuf is NOT a #1 (or #2 for that matter) D-man and Kessel obviously has a limited to moderate personality disorder which limits his commitment to team play.

Last nite Jets playing before their usually rabid home crowd were virtually taking penalties at will and laughing it off. Now the Jets almost always get tagged by some unusual calls (Bettman has implicit instructions these guys are not to make the playoffs) but most of them were silly. Bogosian taking a two handed swipe on a guy who checked him - Bogo breaks his stick across the guys shin pad and Dallas scores within 20 sec. of their power play. Bogo then looks like Mike Tyson after Buster Douglas tagged him silly and Coach Maurice benches him. . . . . . lets him back on when the game is officially out of hand. Note: Jets games are usually out of hand when the Jets go down by 2 goals.
Guys like Olympian Blake Wheeler and Little Brian haven't scored in 10 games (it seems) while Andrew Ladd is nearing 20 goals but his back-checking is putrid and he has the passing touch of Dave Schulz.

When Evanka Kane is your best player you know problems exist. And now they've run out of the super-goaltending serum their goalies can't stop squat.

Jets are an 85 to 88 pt. team (slightly above .500) but unfortunately they used up the plus .500 in the seasons first half. Now, they're mired in slumpville.

As per the form chart Winnipeg media is calling every Jets game a must game. Wonderful. Doesn't give you much room to move after a loss. Of course, the way out after a loss is saying 'On to the next game, gotta forget we got slaughtered tonite!'.......if a game is a must game and you lose then why play the rest of the schedule. Kinda goofy media psychology but then again you ain't seen nothin' till you've seen Winnipeg media in action. Generally most are super-shills and heavy lemmings - they don't want owner Mark Chipman to look at them sideways in the pressbox or be uninvited to Jets upcoming banquets and eating events.

Look for Gooner Lawless of the Wpg Free Press to take them on hard when he returns from the euphoria of being on press row at the Super Bowl - mixing spit with such luminaries as Bill Romanowski and Stephen A. Smith (always wondered what the A stands for); gooner gonna write a doomsday gonzo column within 2 days of arriving back in Winterpeg.

Meanwhile Flames keep on burning - last nite helping the aimless Oilers keep hope alive in the Connor Chronicles! Oilers have some nice pieces on their team - but sub-par goaltending and putrid organizational depth. A ticket to nowheresville.

Which Jets? The orginals down in the desert or the Atlanta transplants?

actually if bronko meant the NY Jets you could argue that the Loafs are better.
