Obvious after first 1/6 of season there are many GMs, coaches, assistant coaches and players who have been placed on the official Nasty Nate Suicide Watch..... however, lets put a chance of execution beside their name. Tons of guys deserve execution but team circumstances may determine outcome more than talent (or lack thereof)

    1. Plop La Police (Wpg) - 10% chance of execution current - goes up to 33% if team still winless after 6 games - nearly 90% chance of execution if winless or only 1 W by 9 game mark.

    2. Scooter Milanovich (TO) - 5% chance of current execution - however, Scooter has a hall of fame QB, Wpg. just has Buck and a couple promising youts.

    3. Eric Tilman (Edm) - 20% chance of imminent execution - lots of not so hushed tones about Eric being very erratic; big win over Wpg buys him a couple more weeks.

    4. Gary Crowton (Wpg OC) - 40% chance of being the Wpg scapegoat; much like Jeff Reinbold did to Joe Paopao more than a decade ago.

    5. Noel Prefontaine (TO K), 50% chance of being removed as FG kicker, his punting and cdn citizenship may allow survival. He's just too old and too inconsistent.

    6. Buck Pierce - if his foot is damaged more than 4 or 5 weeks the Bombers are 75% to put him on the 9 game - cuz you can't release an injured man with a big contract - he might be transitioned into a QB coach or community relations guy....

    7. Jeff Reinbold - where there's smoke -------- about 40% by midway mark. His defense just doesn't look right, and neither does the old Frank Gorshin imitator.

Other minor players subject to execution - BradyBrowne, Tamorina, etc.

Some old names being bandied around for existing CFL jobs.

    1. Mike Kelly as OC - somewhere

    2. Alexis 'Frodo-kicker' Serna - FG kicker in TO

    3. Doug 'Bubba' Brown - CEO Winnipeg to replace Rascal Boy, Garth Buchko. No one is trusted more in Wpg than the brutally honest Mr. Brown.

Trestman will have the best of both worlds. A guaranteed contract & an escape clause if he wants to go to the NFL or NCAA.

Honestly I doubt that it will which is probably why he accepted the 4 year deal. He's been in the NFL and NCAA so long without ever having had a HC position offer and in the 4 years he's been with the als the best he got was some interest from the dead last Colts in spite of winning back to back championships. Looks like he's poised to be a cfl lifer. There's just something about him that nfl teams don't like. Is he just too nice?

Tim Tebow thought highly enough of him to use him as a private qb coach. I think he'll be back in the NFL as a qb coach.

Bud Grant his mentor was HC for 10 seasons with the Bombers. If Trestman lasts until 2016 he will have done 9 which is one more than Douglas 'Peahead' Walker who was the longest standing coach of the alouettes at 8 seasons, yet no grey cup.

I love how Trestman warranted a double-clause coaching contract - ie. big extension w/ the out clause. However, at 55 or 56, Mighty Marc has probably found a home in M'real (next 3 to 5 years).

His big test will come when AC jilts him and heads back to TexMex - or perhaps AC is retained as a QB/OC with the thought of taking over the Als reins in 4 or 5 years.....

Don't think Marc will be offered any good head coaching gigs in the NFL, perhaps a nice assistant or position coach spot which doesn't really benefit him that much.

NCAA is different kettle. Wasn't Trestman rumoured for Pedd State?

A very good qb coach in the NFL can command a lot of money as can an OC. I personally don't think he'll be in Montreal the next 4 years. But there's no getting around the fact that he is an outstanding coach & a quality person as well. He is the Anti Kelly.

He makes a pretty good salary here. He gets to be The boss and doesn't have the same fan and media pressure than in the states. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Maybe not the pressure but the coaches in the CFL are like the players. They want to make it big on the National Stage down south. Do you think an NHL calibre coach would be happy coaching in Switzerland or the KHL? Besides the lack of fame, the money isn't there either.

Bob Hartley went to switzerland before landing with the Flames. I have no doubt Trestman will one day land an NFL gig. In the meantime this is the best he's going to get. And best to sign now cuz with Calvillo on the mend who knows how this team will fare and you don't want the als brass getting second thoughts by season's end.

Marc Andre (Trestman; his new quebecois name) is certainly in the CFL's 500 club...

Just for the old routine let me state my guesses on CFL coaches and GMs salaries.

    1. Huffer - $425 to $475k
    2. Lord Lyle - $375 to $400k (paycut from his wpg salary)
    3. Wally Buono - $475k
    4. Champ Chamblin - $250k
    5. Brenda Taman - $300k
    6. Joe Mack - $350 - $370k
    7. Jim Barker - $300k
    8. Milanovich - $275k
    9. George Cortez - $325k
    10. Trestman - $440 to $500k
    11. Plop - $333 - $360k

Chamblin with coaches like K.Jones, Barron Smiles and Jason Tucker must make for a low coaching payroll for the riders.

The CEO in Sask. is probably the highest paid guy.

However, don't underestimate Safari Jones when it comes to salary. He's a low-key guy but he's always been a stiff when it comes to his salary. I don't think he's working as Sask'n OC/QB coach for $85k - probably around $140 to $160k - - - - and Khari probably figures he's very close to taking the next available CFL head coaching gig -

Prolly the gig comes up in less than one year in:

    1. The Peg - where Plopball is flailing

    2. Calgary - where Huff might call it a day if frustrations continue

    3. Edmonton - where Kavis & Shameus O'Feelme aren't exactly bastions of stability

    4. Sask - but only if the program goes crazy successful and Chamblin gets called up to the majors.
