More on the Canadian QBs joining Montreal for camp.

    http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/ ... ssportscfl

Couple of takeaways from the article:

So they overlook the drafting of Marc-Olivier Brouillette that they converted to a linebacker but mention Jesse Palmer who unlike the others was a NCAA QB that actually played in the NFL so it wasn't really a chance any more than drafting a guy like Phillip Blake was.

Graves hasn't been above the 60% mark yet and Quinlan was a 64.7% passer last year.

The smartest guy in the entire Jesse Palmer debate was Jesse himself. He knew he didn't have the talent to be anything more than a half-average CFL QB, sort of a white Kevin Glenn.....
He was smart in taking NFL money to hide behind the starters and be the #3, getting paid like royalty.
When he was finally discovered as NFL incapable he decided to transform himself into a very capable network sports broadcaster. In fact, I'd say he's one of the best on his network. I'd rather listen to Jesse's monday morning QB show than listen to Jim Rome who sounds like a repetitive mental patient 90% of the time!

The question I'd like to know is why Palmer signed with the Als? Of all the teams you'd think he'd have known to stay away from them.

Signing with the Als showed everyone that Jesse was terrified of starting games. With the very durable AC in tow, Jesse was guaranteed NOT TO START!

Smart move retiring from the field and moving into the booth well before he turned 30.

Ok tinfoil hats down, back away from the theory.

Truth behind it was that Jesse Palmer had to sign with Montreal to play in the CFL because they owned his rights. The only way to get around that was to retire from pro football for an entire year and then in a comeback state could sign with anyone. However there was enough NFL interest (Minnesota, Oakland, San Francisco) that retiring wasn't really an option.

The goal was to sign with Montreal for a 3 year deal and then have the Renegades trade for him so he could play for them after his father took over the team, however in the end he signed with the San Francisco 49ers while the Gades franchise was suspended.

Had it all worked out he would've been the highest paid player in the League.

Sounds like an F Troop scenario although I'd say that Palmer was a better pro qb than Kevin Feterik.

Another example of the lack of respect.

    http://www.tsn.ca/nfl/story/?id=395949

They have mixed up their Tyler Holmes'. The one that was a defensive player played at UMass not offensive guard at Tulsa like the one that the Argos drafted.

    Brutal.

So they updated the article. They changed the word "defensive" to "offensive".

So out of touch!!!!! A guard is never going to be the Offensive Player of the Year unless there is a serious issue going on in the voting. Love this League, love the work that TSN puts in but this is terrible.

Yep, but that's the way it is as the media in the center of the universe doesn't care.
