Too bad the Acadia vs Laval game isn't broadcast coast to coast. Potentially the best two teams east of Ontario facing off in a rare regular season match up. This is a prime example of why non-conference play should happen during the season. (and count)

I prefer waiting for the B2B Carabins-Rouge et Or in 3 weeks.

So Rids, what's your thoughts on the Dino's Bisons game?

This will be proving grounds for the Bisons but I don't think they pull off the upset. If it was a couple weeks deeper into the season I might give them a greater chance.

It's shaping up for a great finish to the regular season though between these two schools.

I'm going with all three road teams in CanWest this week.

Nice homecoming crowds for Laval (at 15,000) and Queen's (at 10,000).

Western CIAU clubs should be so lucky...:-/

Crowds have been slow to catch on. The Canadian pride in the alma mater just doesn't translate into numbers at the sporting events.

Perhaps with the NHL lockout, some may chance on the CIS football games on TV. Or they may chance on the Krown Canadian University Countdown ( on TV in the west unsure what station) ..... And then some may decide to try a local game.
But then again, that may be wishful thinking. :)

    Don't I know it.

The universities don't seem to have much of a promotional budget to raise student awareness of pending sporting events and when I was a university student in both Calgary and Edmonton, I didn't often go out of my way to show my support for the home teams, either, I guess...:(

I can remember a few Dinos games on cold Friday nights under the lights at McMahon in the mid-1970's, and maybe a sunny afternoon or two during the 3 years I attended the U of Eh here in Edmonton, but that's about it.

Unfortunately, most fellow students at both schools weren't any more motivated to attend the games than I was.

And apparently, not much has changed...:-/

Shaw has done a decent job but it's not a channel that people flipping around the dial may even hit. For a few years I know I had my TV programmed to miss it because during the day it's not entertaining TV.

CanWest is becoming a leader in getting webcasts up and running from every school. I've been able to watch a bunch of games live from down here and they even make them available on demand later.

    http://CanadaWest.tv is the link!
