The awards keep coming for Jon Cornish on his amazing 2012 season. The Calgary Stampeders running back feels the best is yet to come.

Just like a year ago when he was named the Calgary Booster Club male athlete of the year award for the first time, Cornish feels he can improve on his season. Of course, in 2011 he only made seven starts as the main running back for the Stamps.

In 2012, he took the reigns as the No. 1 back for the full season and didn’t disappoint, rushing for a Canadian record 1,457 yards, winning the rushing title as well as top Canadian. He helped the Stamps get into the Grey Cup as well and the team won a league-best 14 games.

He could do better, I guess. But rushing for nearly 1,500 yards is a pretty great accomplishment. He is setting his goals high.

Heard that he had to wait for his lunch break at TD Bank to go accept the award.

What's that old saying again? If you shoot for the stars and miss you may still hit the moon.
