    Calgary Stampeders 2018 Draft Picks

    1. SCEVIOUR, Ryan

    Calgary OL 6'4 305 1995-06-29

An alumnus of Calgary’s Bowness High School, Sceviour played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2014-17) and dressed in 43 games in his career. He was named a second-team all-Canadian in 2016 and 2017 and helped the Dinos’ offence rush for 1,275 yards in 2017, good for the second-best total in Canada West. His 22 reps on the bench press at the CFL National Combine tied for third among all players.

    2. MEZZALIRA, Eric

    McMaster LB 6'0 220 1994-03-10

Mezzalira led the Marauders with 43 tackles in 2017 and had five tackles for loss. The Grimsby, Ont., native added one sack, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and one pass breakup. For his career, he played 28 games and registered 95.5 tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and two pass breakups.

    3. METCHIE, Royce

    Guelph DB 6'0 210 1996-09-11

A versatile defensive back who can play multiple positions, Metchie also excels on special teams. He is the type of player teams look for to provide quality depth throughout the roster. Metchie was second on the Gryphons with 50 tackles in 2017 and the Brampton, Ont., product also had one sack, one interception and one forced fumble. In 28 career games at Guelph, he recorded 108 tackles including six tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and nine pass breakups.

    4. BROWN, David

    Western University OL 6'4 315 1993-06-20

Brown is a two-time Ontario University Athletics all-star and in 2017 he was named a first-team all-Canadian. He was part of a Mustangs offence that led the country with an average of 48.3 points scored per game. Western then added 261 points in four post-season games.

    5. a) LAWRENCE, Justin

    Alberta OL 6'0 305 1996-03-14

Lawrence was a 2017 first-team all-Canadian and blocked for a Canada West-leading rush attack that compiled 1,769 rushing yards. The Spruce Grove, Alta., native was a second-team all-star at centre in 2016 and a first-team all-star at guard in 2015.

    b) MAXWELL, Dagogo

    UBC DB 5'10 197 1996-01-01

Extremely raw as a more recent convert to the defensive side of the ball, Maxwell oozes the athletic traits that teams look for in depth Canadians. He uses his experience as a receiver to understand how and where routes are being run and shuts down receivers with regularity. He can impact on special teams both covering kicks and returning them.

    6. SIMON, Atlee

    Regina RB 5'10 199 1996-01-05

Simon was a Canada West all-star in 2017 as he became the Rams’ all-time leading rusher with 2,943 yards. He finished the 2017 season with 914 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also catching 27 passes for 293 yards and three majors. He had 29 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns in four seasons with the Rams. Simon also competed in track for Regina.

    7. FERRARO, Gabriel

    Guelph K 5'10 178 1995-10-13

Ferraro accounted for 112 points in eight games for the Gryphons in 2017 as he converted on 33 of 40 field goals (an 82.5-per cent success rate) and 23 of 24 extra points. The 33 field goals were an Ontario conference record and helped him earn first-team all-star honours. Twelve of his field goals were from beyond the 40-yard mark. Ferraro also had a 37.5-yard average on 50 punts. For his career, Ferraro converted 69 of 86 field goals and accumulated a total of 293 points.

    8. ROWE, Boston

    Calgary LB 5’ 11 230 1995-06-16

Rowe redshirted with the Dinos as a quarterback in 2013 before switching to the defensive side of the ball the following season. He played a total of 35 games collegiately. Rowe made his first Canada West all-star team in 2016 with a team-leading 53.5 total tackles. He was once again a Canada West all-star in 2017 when he finished second on the Dinos with 40 total tackles in addition to 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two knockdowns and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Rowe attended St. Francis High School in Calgary.
