Only Edmonton would think that Joe Gibbs had anything left in the tank and was worth a look in camp.

For a guy who was "all that" just a year ago for the double-blue, I'm surprised to see Wroten's name among the cuts...

Thanks for posting that information, and welcome to the site, TB4! :D

If memory serves, Claude the Fraude Wroten has anger management issues - Coach Mo-Vich probably didn't feel comfortable working with the guy!

Claude Wroten is a pretty good DL. He might be worth a look see. I don't think it would hurt to bring him in as DL was a major concern last year.

Interesting cut with Wroten. Last season played pretty good for TO, must have made Jones pretty upset in order to get cut. How about BC with only one player to be released. I guess when you are the Grey cup champs and the odds on favorite to repeat, there would be little competition as most players and positions are set.

The Argos have some younger, cheaper guys that they like... one of them being 21 (22 in August) year old Armond Armstead. Went to USC... stands 6'5" 300 lbs. With Huntley at the other DT spot... they also have NI Alexandre. Wroten probably made a bit too much to be a back-up, so he had to go.

    That's the business.

I understand that the CFL only has a staff of about 3 but this is bad to see the official website still doesn't have the transactions from yesterday. It was cutdown day, a day when CFL fans will be checking the website often to see who got released from around the league!!! But you have to track down articles or messages from the individual teams rather than the main website to get this info.

Agreed, Rids. Nothing the CFL does surprises me anymore. Could you see the NFL or NHL doing that???

The NHL is by no means perfect but still 10 times better than Smiley's Revenge (Cohon's CFL) and Cohon's CFL office is 10 times better than it was 10 or 15 years ago when guys like Michael Lispo, Lyin' Larry or Big Balls were running things. . . . . let alone the Donald Crump era! (aka Elmo P. Fudd)

Typical for CFL.ca to screw up.

Donald Crump. Where did the CFL find that guy? He was the worsr Commisioner the CFL has ever seen. Tom Wright a close second.

You mean you didn't like Tom Terrific???? :D

Michael Lispko wasn't much better, was he?

The only guy worse than these vermin is the vermin who charged himself as being 'The Executive Recruiter'

Cohon is harmless cheese. He didn't even turn an eyebrown when Botchko embarrassed him a couple weeks ago at Bomber stadium!

I liked Lysko but Braley, Wettenhall & Asper didn't because he arbitrarily cancelled games the following weekend after 9/11 which was the right thing to do. Those 3 owners had it in for him after that. He could be abrasive but wouldn't you be having to deal with the CFL Board of Dinosaurs?

I think we're fine. Injuries at the position were the major concern last year and hopefully those issues are largely a thing of the past. But you're right there's nothing wrong with a quick look before camp is over.

Either that or he wasn't good enough in pass coverage for when Jones calls those bizarre inside out, messed up, bass ackwards defensive plays where defensive linemen inexplicably drop back into coverage. ;)
