I happened to be channel surfing last night (or this morning around 2 am) BTN was replaying the 2005 Capital One Bowl from January 1st, 2005. Drew Tate was quarterback of the Iowa Hawkeyes while Marcus Randall qb'd the LSU Tigers. Playing corner for the Hawkeyes was Jovon Johnson. One other player of note was Joseph Addai of LSU. Also, this Nick Saban's last game as LSU head coach as he was headed off to Miami for his ill fated & less than stellar short term run as head coach of the Dolphins.
Interesting watching Johnson at corner for the Hawkeyes as he was a playmaker. Surprised he never stuck in the NFL with the ability he showed.
Tate looked like a kid out there & made a lot of mistakes at qb for Iowa. He didn't look very confident & at times even confused but then he was going against a very tough defense. However, Drew has come a long way since then as a player.
Interesting seeing him as a young college qb seven years ago.

I love watching old college games but hate that BTN never shows a game they lost even if it was a classic.

What did you think of the way Tate played, Rids?
