The Edmonton Eskimos have fired general manager Ed Hervey, according to TSN's Ryan Rishaug.

The 43-year-old has been the general manager of the Esks for the past four seasons, winning a Grey Cup championship in 2015. Last season, Edmonton finished with a 10-8 record before losing to the Ottawa Redblacks in the East Final.

In Feb. 2015, he was also given the role of Vice President of Football Operations.

As a player, the wide receiver played in Edmonton from 1999 to 2006, winning two Grey Cups in 2003 and 2005.

Per #CFL sources: Eskimos have quietly been identifying potential GM candidates as far back as January. Wheels long in motion to axe Hervey.

Some are saying Jim Barker. Wouldn't be shocked if Rick Campbell given consideration as coach AND GM. We'll see. #CFL #Esks #Redblacks
