What parts of the city got hit & how bad?
NW Calgary by Nose Hill (Excuse me have you gone to Stampede yet?) got hail a little larger than a twoonie.
In Edgemont we were getting golf ball and larger sized hail. Extensive damage to my vinyl siding not to mention my roof.
Yikes KO - hopefully the cars were in the garage.
New siding and roof time?
Honda has no hail coverage due to the last monster hail storm we had and was in the driveway at the time (Audi was safely tucked in the garage as was my daughter's car). Oh well, adds character. Looks a little like a golf ball now with all the dimples.
As for new roof and siding, you bet your ass. Looks like some took a hammer to the siding.
You should probably make sure you hide said hammer when the insurance adjuster comes out.
We've just got our insurance rebuild quotation back for the new roof we're gonna need following the horrendous 4am hailstorm we experienced here in southwest Edmonton on July 12th.
We're receiving a separate quote for the siding which will also have to be re-done.
It sounded at the time like an assault with automatic gunfire and even in the pitch black the yard looked like a winter snowfield after it was done...we expected the glass skylight over the kitchen to shatter but it held...
Yup, that's about the size we got in Tuxedo. A lot of damage to trees and shrubs, possibly some vehicles on the street too.
Talked to my sister tonight: nothing in the SW in Glamorgan, not even rain.
My understanding is that just the north got hit. I am a former adjuster. I was heavily involved in the 1991 September hailstorm. Nearly burned out. I remember calling that hailstorm "My Personal Year Of Hell" until the statute of limitations on making a claim expired in 1992. We were crazy busy for an entire year. Glad I am out of that business now.
Here's a video of a sign on Deerfoot during the hail storm; complete with hilariously stereotypical music of someone who lives in "new Calgary".
