Now that the TiCats have gone out and grabbed Zach Collaros as their new #1 QB, they have also released Henry Burris.

Early indications all pointed to Winnipeg being the only destination for the former Stamp, but it looks like there is some interest east of there with both Toronto and Montreal reportedly putting their hats into the Hank-stakes.

Does Henry go with where he can be a #1, or does he take the easy road and become a backup on a stronger team? What are your thoughts?

LOL the bombers only take unproven QB's and set them up for failure. Hank is over qualified! LOL

Rumors flying around tonight that Henry Burris has signed on with Ottawa. Look out!!!

If it's true they are really building for a training camp battle with Burris and Glenn.

Later today, Henry will be announced as a new QB with the Ottawa RedBlacks.

    Pretty big shock actually.

Do they trade Glenn to Winnipeg now? Or does Calgary step up and make a move and take advantage of Winnipeg in their time of need?

    That is a shocker...

Last week the media in Winnipeg had made the assumption that Burris heading west was a 'done deal' (and some media in town were unhappy that Hank was going to end up there as a 'second choice' behind Winnipeg's pursuit of Collaros despite the Bombers' assurances that, given the two of them, Winnipeg had "always preferred Burris anyway").

Now it appears the Bombers won't get either of them...

Winnipeg may indeed once again look westward with covetous eyes fixed on Calgary's roster. ;)

Winnipeg offered Burris a two year deal worth $750,000 and instead he signed in Ottawa for a 3 year deal perhaps worth a little more.

Ottawa now has a QB group of the following:
Henry Burris and Kevin Glenn both making starting QB money
Thomas DeMarco making back up QB money
Matt Faulkner making entry level money
David Fales on their neg list

Oddly enough both Faulkner and Fales attended San Jose State so apparently their west coast scout is off to a good start.

Bold move by Ottawa and perhaps Burris giving the finger to Austin by wanting to stay in his division.

Tough break for Glenn but to be fair Burris will help sell more tickets

Also shows that Winnipeg is not an attractive destination.

Where's Flash in all this? He must be quite thrilled.

Even though the two QB's are friends, suspect Glenn was a little disappointed with the news - from starter, to competing for it again overnight.

Looks like the RB's management is on top of things....pretty good depth at the QB position in their top three for an expansion team (hell, it's a good position to be in even for an established team).

Makes you wonder about the Bombers....it's looking like they won't be able to turn the corner on their downward spiral with the current suits in the office - missed a shot at both C & B, can't seem to win even in the offseason???

Suspect the league is going to start throwing fines around to those that leak info on salaries etc to the media....or they may have to change their non-disclosure policy?

It just goes to show you that Winnipeg will never learn. If you want to play with the big dogs you have to get off the porch! Now the Bombers to get one of the guys from Ottawa will now have to cough up more money and lose in a trade just plain dumb. Tell me is it the drinking water in the office of the bombers that cuases them to screw up this much.

If I was Winnipeg I'd offer up a couple of draft picks to Ottawa and get Kevin Glenn. Then make a big deal out of it. Weak draft class and Ottawa will need NI depth in a big way so you can play those two factors off and get their starting QB while they search for the future.

I have no doubt that the Bombers have a half dozen QBs on the neg list but any of those will be a year away from joining the club at best.

Penton is the same Winnipeg sports writer who last week was chiding the Bombers for not being competitive in their salary offer when they tried to lure Collaros.

I'd bet that on the basis of Penton's Twitter entry above I could write his next sports column for him...;)

As rids mentioned to me it was bizarre that Glenn was never presented to the Ottawa media. Makes it look like he was trade bait all along.
