Johnny (Hockey) Gaudreau and his best pal (and linemate) on the Boston College Eagles NCAA team, Bill Arnold, were this afternoon announced as the newest Calgary Flames, and both will be available to suit up Sunday in Calgary's Sunday night finale against the Canucks.

Gaudreau this afternoon won the Hobey Baker Award (U.S. college hockey's equivalent of the Heisman), and my daughter and I were privileged to have been able to see him in action last October at an NCAA game in Boston. He's the highest scoring player in American college hockey for the past 11 years, and Arnold is a defensive centre who'll look really good as a latter-day incarnation of Joel Otto in Flames' silks.

Nothing in the Flames pipeline, eh?

Only for those who aren't payin' attention...;)

Couple these two with the impressive stable of kids on the farm, along with those who've already been given a taste of life with the "Big Club", and the future is looking very bright for the Flames and their fans.

And the rebuild that much shorter...:D

2 great signings for sure - it was a big relief when the news came out that they both signed.

And you're right, the future is looking good for the Flames.
