I love this story about Lamarcus Coker. What's next from Coker? I have a feeling he isn't going to let this chance slip through his fingers. I'm anxious to see how the extra 20 pound of muscle Coker added will effect his speed, his ability to break tackles and pass block. Even if he's a tad slower he'll still be plenty fast and with the extra broken tackles I think it'll mean even more big plays. I'm as excited as ever about our 1-2 punch at running back. I think it's the best in the league. But just how much playing time will Coker see playing behind Cornish and how much production can we expect out of him?
With Corndog carryin' the mail this year, and Coker slated to see spot duty, maybe the slogan should be: "Have a Coke: the pause that refreshes!" TM
How about, "Coker moves so fast you'd think he was on crack!" No? *cough* I think I'll go over there now...
Nice little video on him, courtesy of a reference made to it in the Herald by Al Cameron more than a year ago, (which of course preceded Coker's arrival at training camp 2011 in Calgary) : TM
Looks like there are some really talented young running backs coming into the CFL. Gerald Riggs in TO looked good tonight as did Cheets in Saskatchewan.
The window is short for RB's. Just a few years ago Reynolds and Cates were dominating defenses and just like that they are out of the league. There is never a shortage of fast, skilled, young American running backs that are considered a little undersized for the NFL so the minute a vet slips or loses a step it's easy to find replacements.
Boyd to me is the next guy to go. He caught a couple of passes out of the backfield for the Argos but didn't look that great running with the ball after catching it while I thought Riggs was faster, more elusive & looked to be more versatile as a back being used in that situation. If the Argos keep Boyd I can't see Kackert beating out Riggs as the backup.
True but some are always better than others. I think we have two really special ones at the moment (especially when you consider that one of ours is Canadian which really is a rarity at that position) so we'd better enjoy them while we have them.
It's definitely the most explosive anyway. I actually think that with the controlled passing attack we'll likely see with Tate under center and Dickenson calling the plays, we may actually lean on our running game for the big plays at least as much as our passing game!
According to the survey it would appear after tonight's game his struggles with the Stampeders will continue. This time by injury. Too bad because his speed on the field is exceptional. Again the problem is consistency with him.
