Its funny how a good coach can change the dynamics of a team. Your lucky to have Cory as a HC. I like this guy from the first time I had seen him on the field. He is a hungry coach and that hunger for wins will be infectious to the players as well. I was impressed and as any rider fan will tell you that is not often I give credit to the watermelon team.
Christoph praising the Riders? The Mayans were right, the end of the world must be near.
Well, we'll see... The Ti Cats may have been vastly overrated by Rod Black & TSN who probably has Hank, Gigurere & fantuz posters pinned up in his rec room. The Riders have to get by us & the Lions in the West. We'll see how good they are by Labour Day.
Neither team has proved anything but perhaps the Riders hearing about how bad they were supposed to be (look at the comments after the lost to BC in the pre-season) and the Ticats hearing about how they are the heir to the Eastern Throne got into the way.
Remember BC was once 0-5 and Edmonton was 5-0 last year.
and the stamps and lions won the GC with 8-10 records. It's all about the finish.
That's true but IMO winning early in the season affords the opportunity to bank wins in the event the team undergoes major injuries and winning the conference gives the best odds of getting to the Grey Cup and the more wins you get early the more chances of finishing first. When Stamps went down to injury last year the Eskimos went south but thanks to that good start they managed to hold on and even secure a home playoff date.
last year was just plain weird. three teams tied at 11-7 in the west. what were the chances of that. and bc winning both tiebreakers. don't think we'll ever see that again.
bc was not a real 0-5 team. 3 of those losses were very close.
Of course its only 1 game and this weekend will be 'only two games' but the biggest differential noticed (for me) is how cool and cut=throat Corky Chamblin is on the sidelines - a mini Timlin if you will.
vs. the guy with 10+ years in the CFL, our bomber boy, Paul LaPanique.......who really flies off the wall and panics far too often with key on field decisions. But he's great in the community!!! ha
Bomber store now open late til 9PM on weeknights monday to friday. Amazing how on the field performance does not affect off the field sales.
They're having a ball!!!
Alouettes have had one single practice in preparation for tomorrow. They finally understood it is pointless to prepare for the unpreparable that is LaPo football.
The way the Als played Sunday did they even have a training camp?
I could swear I saw them do some type of training. Maybe they want this team to go belly up so they can move to Ottawa.
Bombers had a training camp but it was a bit of a Plop-off (ie. shortened practices, days off, no real reps, no contact, etc.)
Brilliant excuse for a poor start to season as stated prior; also 4 game on the road (thanks Roger Miller)
Plop is always shaking off the rust, even quarter to quarter half way thru seasons. But Trestman has no such excuse as the Als have been league leaders for a ton of time and AC is super-established.
Tonite, expect a small anomaly in AC's poor play from last week as he should be able to grind out at least 22-23 pts from Burke/s stingy d. However, can't expect Plop/Buck to do same, buck will still be in plop=mode and the big blue will be luck to come within a converted TD. 23-15 Als!
What was Buchko doing on the sidelines? Like pretending he actually owns the Bombers now? He's doing his best Ted Hellard imitation & epicly failing. There's only one Ted Hellard & we miss him.
Bombers made an epic mistake by bringing Botchko into the fold. The fail is big-time. . . . all they can yap about is NEXT WEEK!!! (from the Cal Murphy Book of Football Excuses)
as Trestman said, all eastern teams had a third pre-season game. Watch out today stamps.
