So we go up in order starting at #1 with our favorite player to ever wear that number. You can give a reason why or just leave it be. Seems pretty easy right? Next person up can either reply with their favorite at that number or move up to the next number.

    #1 Jacques Plante
437 wins, 6 Stanley Cup rings, Hockey Hall of Fame member, 7 Vezina Trophies, 1962 Hart Trophy, 40+ wins in a season 3x, 51 additional wins in the AHL.

Number 2 I'll go with Doug Flutie when he played for the Argos

Oh wait....you probably meant just hockey soooooo......Number 2 Doug Harvey who has a rink to his name in my old neighbourhood of NDG in Montreal

Ok since it's a Calgary forum #2 has to be Al MacInnis right?

My favorite #3 is Scott Stevens

I'd also throw out the name Bobby Orr for a famous #4.

According to this website 307 players have worn the #5 since 1950 http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/numbers.cgi?number=5

#5 is another great defenseman number so I'd nominate two of them:
Denis Potvin for his dominance with the Isles and really showing a new breed of smooth skating offensive defensemen.

Rod Langway for his dominance as a defender and how to play hard, hit hard and last a long time in the pros.

Number 6- one of only 2 single digits not retired by the Habs. I was at Joe Torre's number retirement earlier this year at Yankee Stadium but I guess hockey-wise my pick would beeee...........Ace Bailey of the Leafs who I think is the only league-wide player to have had that number retired back in 1934.

No but that's an idea. He died on my 23rd birthday.

Number 7 however was the first number retired here. Howie Morenz.

8 is the only other unretired digit here. Dick Duff would be the best we had with an honorable mention to Mark Recchi.

#9 is one of the hardest numbers in pro hockey to pick a single individual.

Gordie Howe has to be my selection.

I'm sure the Calgary fans would prefer a little Theo Fleury to Craig "I Ruined the Franchise That Made Me What I Am Today" MacTavish.
