As many have predicted the lineup for potential lawsuits surround the construction of WPg's supposed $190 million dollar stadium have begun.
In theory the construction company charged with the overall erection 'guaranteed' Wpg a price (190 million). Due to various problems (outlined in attached article) this figure will likely rise (the amount is unknown, what is known is it will easily exceed the 200 million mark, some think it might float as high as 300+ million; I'm still optimistic it might remain in the 240 to 260 range)

The biggest worry, of course is the construction company's division that is doing the work (still a few months of dabbling left) will declare insolvency and leave the bombers (and province of Manitoba the bombers primary sponsor) to finish the job themselves.

Also unusual that the Wpg Free Press is NOT accepting comments on the story - which means something fishy this way lurks.......

Nightmare for sure. In the end, the construction companies will pay...

How the corporates inevitably try to get out of these things is empty the purse in the construction wing (Company) thats doing the work, pulling all men and equipment off the site and putting pressure on the payee to cough up more coin (or else).

Even with a guarantee to fund overages, a fake bankruptcy (which is done all the time) will create nothing but acrimony and chaos.

However, the site is nearly 80% finished - hopefully the NDP haven't given the entire 100 million over to Stuart Olson. If they have, the site manager could play some hardball games.

They will have to finish the stadium & then sort out the mess afterwards. Going to get messy. But from everything I have read the problems aren't on the Bombers or the provincial government for incompetence. It is the contractor & sub contractors. Lawyers in Winnipeg are salivating.

Terry (Tundra Mustang) will tell you the same thing. When a public works project has problems, the public usually pays the piper. If Stuart Olson wants to kill of one of its wings, and the bombers can't afford to pay the final bills, it will fall on the government.....

    Doesn't it always?

Bomber brass will avoid making eye contact with Premier Selinger for another year or so.
