Magic Mike, err Maggot Mike (aka Mike Kelly) longtime CFL assistant, Valdosta State (Div. 3) head coach and short term CFL head coach for the Bombers has found work with a second rate Florida hi-school. The program is in such esteem that Maggot will also be in charge of providing driving lessons to students.

Kelly was clinging to hope in Wpg and had got a nifty little gig with TSN 1290 as a pre-game analyst but TSN pulled the plug on their pre-game shows, deciding not to pit up against powerhouse CJOB. Kelly also found a Winnipeg girl (his lawyers receptionist, I'm told) to marry. No word from Bob Irving (the reports source) if Kelly has married the receptionist and whether Mrs. Maggot will be accompanying him to Florida.

As long as Bauer is with the Stamps there will always be a chance the Stamps will hire him... :O

Sorry Rids, I thought it was head coach at a high school program. After what went on in Wpg (Kelly going Hitler on the media, the mug shot of him after an ex-wife dialed 911, the poor performance of the team, etc) he was virtually unemployable in Canada. Probably got a small food stipend from the radio station for doing pre-game commentary (which he was pretty good at btw)..... of course you know where his primary football/character references come from (his lawyer, Lordship, Mark Nelson).....assistant high school coaches probably don't rake in more than $25k, so he's gonna be giving driving lessons to boost the old income. With all the garbage, vitriol, etc. around Maggot he'll still end up doing better in his one season than Paul LaPolice did in two of his 3 seasons.

When the Kelly thing broke, methinx a certain calgary football executive broke the world landspeed record, finding a standing offer from Ted Hellard in his office drawer and getting Hellard to make it official the same day (as Kelly's execution by the bomber board of directors)

Blah, blah, blah... I read what Kelly said about how he still feels that has value in the CFL, how it was his dream job & wants the CFL to prosper... All noble words. Sorry but if Kelly hadn't let power go to his head, treated people with respect & not been so damned stubborn he may still have been coaching in Winnipeg. Kelly thought that he was better than everybody else, was so damned arrogant & cocky that he has no one to blame but himself for what happened in Winnipeg & where he is now.

Kelly was warned by Lyle Bauer that he had to 'Take Control of the program'. Unfortunately, Kelly took it to hitlerian extremes and became a total a-hole, not only in Wpg but around the league. There is some truth to the phrase "Take Control of the Program" but not the way Kelly did it.

Spying, Kicking guys out of practice, refusing to answer questions about jettisoning Kevin Glenn out of town and bringing in a lamer named Steffi Lefors at QB, goofy offensive schemes, playing injured and/or unpreprared men, almost bringing in that american db drug addict, etc. The Kelly Legacy was all on Mike Kelly - it brought as much disgrace to the program in one year as Jeff Reinbold had caused in 2.

It wasn't Stefan LeFors fault there. That was a pure coaching error with a QB coach and OC that had never worked with a left handed QB at the reins. Maybe LeFors can challenge Mike Kelly's school to a game with his squad at Christian Academy of Louisville.

I'm betting that Mike Kelly will earn bonus dollars putting some scout camps together for CFL teams.

Kelly will be brown nosing to get back into the CFL asap. He can't be happy being a HS coordinator. Doesn't pay the bucks either.

The Lord & Kelly might be fishin' buddies, (bum buddies for all I know) but there's no way Lyle puts his cozy hi-payin' job in jeopardy by hiring MK back into the league . . . . first, he'd have to wrestle total control of the team from Huffer and the Flames execs.. . . and even then the owners already have Lyle under the microscope for decreased Stamps atttendance and soft overall management.....the circumstances of how Lyle was jettissoned into Calgary are shall we say - mysteriously interesting!!!

I think that playoff choke after playoff choke has a lot to do with the attendance. The Stamps had a chance to corner a bit more of the sports market in town here & blew it big time over the past 3 years.
