Time for CFL teams to bring the hammer down financially on these guys. If they sign a contract & then breach it by returning to school then they should be sued. Make it tough for players to do that. And the CFL should perhaps stop assisting the CIS they way they do.

I think in this case it was Norman coming to camp with the thoughts from both the player and the team that he'd grow from the experience but likely be heading back to Western for the fall as a better thought than sitting on the PR.

Personally I was thinking that he'd be ready enough for some rotational duty this year. Now he's into a crunch time to make a decision that will change his course. Return to school and complete a degree or play professional football this year. Comes back to the Darren Gill quote from earlier this year when players were not reporting to camps (Ticat and Lion camps) where he said "I remember those years and don't remember a lot of money coming in." speaking of how much being in university pays vs the rookie contract that was offered.

It's like it's a generational thing. Guys like Kirby Fabien want things handed to them without working for it. You see it in the working world. Kids coming out of university wanting management jobs but not prepared to do the work first to earn that position. They think they know more than anybody else with years of experience & they don't know squat. Gotta earn it first.

It's a bit of a different case though. Had the Lions not had all those injuries, Norman returns to school no problems. Now, he was starting in the pre-season game and they obviously need him at the very least for depth at OG.

He was drafted as a pro plyer & had no problem with that. Now that the Lions need him he wants to bail. Like Fabien, you have to question the character of these guys.
