News and notes from practice: Oct. 14
    Scott Mitchell, Calgary Sun

Since exiting the Calgary Stampeders’ 36-21 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders way back on July 5, Drew Tate has thrown five passes.

Forearm soreness the culprit, the 29-year-old former starter has been working his way back into form with limited reps on the practice field and varying opinions exist as to his game-readiness.

But Stamps offensive co-ordinator Dave Dickenson still sees the same strong-armed Texan that started the season as the unquestioned starter.

“Drew’s been solid,” Dickenson said. “He’s champing at the bit to play, and when and if the time comes, we’ll get him in there. He’ll play well when he gets his chance.”

DD was very careful with his wording there.

Yeah, the phrase, "If we need him, I know he’ll play well", is telling for sure.

It was also good to see that Tim Hawthorne is back catching passes - he's a good young WR and showed he can play well for us.
