Rids - if Nic Demski (Bison rookie RB) was draft eligible could you see him being drafted Top 8? (ie. first round of CFL/CIS draft)

Guy isn't eligible for another 3 or 4 years but he's developing into quite the monster.

Saw him on TV saying he might consider playing Bisons hockey after football ends.....

Size is going to be a negative (officially listed as 6'0" but unless he's grown a bunch in the 2 years since HS I don't see it). He's a really talented kid, I like what he brings to the table and named him a Top 100 HS player in the country when he graduated from Oak Park.

However unless more CFL teams start using a non-import as a kick returner (I believe only BC does right now with Marco Iannuzzi) he might be overlooked.

Both Demski and Anthony Coombs will be in the same draft class (2016).

From your thread title I thought you were proposing a swap of Demski for one of our moderators...;)

    I thought "Who's this Demski"?

    Then I read your post.

    Still for keeping Rids...:D

You guys would enjoy seeing Demski run for long return TDs. The guy is a CIS rookie but he's bigger than most CFL backs. Faster than most, too!

Wonder if there's any youtube's of Nic's returns?

Pretty close! But Demski doesn't kick field goals.....

Prolly a bit faster than even James!

James turned pro in 1952 at 16 with the Bombers

Not quite possible in today's CFL.....

    Demski is a CIS sophmore.

If I ended up on the Bisons they'd be a lot worse off. Although my kick return skills were pretty good in the mid-80s...

Head coach Brian Dubie is really trying to help Demski with a pro career. He's actually been utilizing the kid as a slotback or WR . . . thus enhancing the potential for CFL suitors. I agree, if its just kick-returning skills (punt or kickoff) most CFL GMs are loathe to deploy a canuck, they just don't see it as a ratio-busting spot....

But if Nic can develop his hands and learn efficient route=running he could be a solid backup WR who could easily get 35 to 50 passes a year with some nifty post-catch yardage. He'd also be a good special teamer, backup RB and of course, the first canuck deployed on runbacks (if the faster import was damaged in battle)
