As per Ian Busby on Twitter:
Did Hank do enough to have his number eventually retired? I say no... With the teams he played on, we should have won two or possibly even 3 Grey Cups.
He does have an awful lot of team records. I still maintain not all of our playoff losses were on Burris alone.
Lewis was on the same teams, and if they don't retire his jersey someone should be flogged.
I think once Burris retires, his jersey will here as well.
Good to see you over here, guy!
And for the record, we're of the same mind concerning your take on Hank...
Maybe as the years go by, I'll look more kindly on the Henry Burris era than I do now. To me, his poor play in the postseasons squandered at least 1 more championship that we should have won. Great regular seasons & disappointments in the playoffs. That will be his legacy.
At least 1, absolutely.
But there's some other names in that bunch. Last year Lewis drops one on the goal line and we got a horribad too many men penalty. Plus a bad Tate fumble.
There was a playoff game vs. Edmonton that Joff fumbled away.
Then there was Jake the Snake Ireland taking 20 minutes to decide he could get away with giving Sask the ball. The evidence was so "conclusive" he had to watch it 600 times and call Suitor to ask his opinion :s
It's the QB all the credit vs. all the blame syndrome.
Flutie is oft looked at here as a God, but when he was here his legacy was "Can't play in the cold". Given what he did in TO, it may have merit
I like the Wall of Fame the Stamps use. They don't need to retire a ton of numbers. If you look at the numbers the Stamps retired those players did some amazing things for this club. Is Henry in that class......not 100% sure
He won a Grey Cup. That means he is in the same class as Sean Salisbury, Tom Burgess, Kent Austin, Rick Cassata & other "superstars" in this league.
Need a Wall of Fame in the message board world too...
13thman has one one of which I am a member. Inducted under the Stampeders banner... Kinda cheesy but it was done when the site was started back 10 years ago. Back then, if you posted a certain number of posts you qualified. It's still up.
How 'cum I never made the Wall of Fame over at 13th? Just my lib battles over on the P&R section should qualify me, dammit!
Guess you gotta, like, have 20,000 posts before you qualify, eh?
So who would be a first ballot wall of famer?
We could get the ball rolling on your inclusion to the Wall of Fame. Do you have a recent picture we could use?
Yeah, it was based upon a certain number of posts until people got jealous & started resenting it. Some felt they should be on that wall & others felt some didn't deserve it. Took something fun & spoiled it.
