A's return where they once played in the 60s under owner Charlie Finley.

Jon Lester for the A's and James Shields for the Royals. Winner goes to Anaheim

A's hit a 2 run homer in the top of the first to take an early lead.

Royals get their first batter on base though. We are in for a dandy!!

I won't be so detailed but the A's are making a break for it. Up 7-3 in the 6th.

    Royals mount a comeback.

7-6 A's in the ninth. Might as well wrap this up

Wow! Royals with a guy at 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th. Nothing not an exciting way to start the playoffs. (even if the one game wildcard thing between team #4 and team #5 is just stupid...)

The A's have a base runner in the top of the 11th.

The Royals escape it and we're heading to the bottom of the 11th.

A's have an issue though as they left several pitchers off their Wild Card roster. Look out!

Royals clinch it in the bottom of the 12th with a walk-off single by Salvador Perez to win it 9-8.

Billy Beane should have stuck to his money ball ways

12 innings for the first ever #4 vs #5 play in game. Not too shabby. Too bad the MLB app still charges a bundle to use even in the playoffs.
