The wheels on the (short) bus go round and round...

A hire that was made just to keep the current head boy on his toes!

Why would the Oilers give Steve Tambellini a new contract & then hire McTavish? I'm not getting this.

What, the one about the wheels on the (short) bus going round and round? Because really, I think it explains perfectly why...

Gotta be more to it than that, Nate.

Mac T was available. Stumbletini (Steve) is vulnerable, having had veritable 3 year reign of terror on the first draft choices. With Mac T available the Oiler ownership figured he'd be a good guy to have in the bullpen when (or if) they pull the pin on Steve.

MacT is versatile - he can be a liason with ownership, a solid sounding board with Stevie Stumbles and even a head coach if required. Finally, he's really really good with media.
