Looking to fill their head coaching position. One of the 2 candidates is former CFL HC & DC Gary Etcheverry. The past few years, the HC position has been a carousel. Rids, can you shed some light as to why the university is having so many problems attracting & retaining their head coaches?

They lost the last head coach to cross town rival Carleton that doesn't even play until the Fall of 2013 to be an offensive co-ordinator.

Problem sits with the Athletic Director and the lack of cash they are offering for the coaches and the program in general. I believe in Ottawa the head coaching salary is 2/3 football related and 1/3 teaching with no support staff.

I just hope the coaching changes don't affect the Alberta recruit at QB - Zac Lesko that played at Austin O'Brien (but attended a smaller French Immersion school a couple blocks away).

Sounds like Ottawa is stuck in the past. How ridiculous is that. Well, Etcheverry says he wants to coach CIS rather than the CFL for God knows whatever reasons. They'd be smart to hire Etch as the other guy turned Ottawa down a year & a half ago. He'd be a sloppy seconds choice.

Saw on another board that Edmonton QB Zac Lesko will remain committed to the Gee Gees. This is great for their program - they need his strong arm and must build for the future if they want to gain success through the coaching turmoil. Word is that Etch's offence, although at this point not revealed, will be unique and will involve a strong passing game.

Even better for Lesko is that Theo Deezar has de-committed with the coaching change and is heading to Manitoba. Opens up the door a little big more. Look for Etch to put in a double TE set to work with. Lots of short routes to march up the field with. Looking forward to seeing if it comes together.

What kind of a qb is Theo Deezar? Where is he from & is he a freshman player, Rids? Also, what kind of qb depth does Manitoba have now with Williams, Marshe & Deezar?

Deezar is a big kid (6'6") with a big arm out of St. Paul's in Winnipeg. Really strong prospect with a good future. He was a member of our Top 100 List last year.

Some big positive news for the Gee Gees. Marcus Adams (ex-Roughrider) is heading out there to join their coaching staff. Great addition! Love that news.

Double Wing??? At the CIS level??? I coached that offense in bantam. Perfect for that level as it is 95% run but not CIS. No wonder there is a revolt... Unreal.

Terrible move. They already had a hard time recruiting losing their regular coach so late last year and now this. No stability, no future, no plan.

They'll have to spend something to get a coach to join into that circus.

They built their football "stadium" on the banks of the river. Right up against the bank. Can only have a grandstand on one side. Right beside a street. That whole university seems ###### up when it comes to sports.
