Paris Cotton tour continues at Calgary Stampeders' mini-camp

    Paris Cotton may not have spoken a word the entire weekend.

    He wanted to let the film do the talking.

    One week after attending Saskatchewan Roughriders mini camp at the same IMG Academy facility in Florida, the 26-year-old former Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back worked his way into a look at the Calgary Stampeders’ annual three-day affair that came to a close Monday morning.

    The Stamps already have some of Cotton’s gametape, and it shows the 5-foot-8, 193-pounder shredding the Red & White defence for 108 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns late in the 2014 campaign.

    Cotton didn’t remind them to watch it.

    “I think they know about it already,” Cotton said with a smile. “I’m pretty sure my talent speaks for itself here, so I don’t have to talk much.”

    When he was released by the Bombers in mid-February on the heels of another free-agent spending frenzy by the Manitoba club — one that included Canadian tailback Andrew Harris at a hefty price — Cotton didn’t see it coming.

    “Very surprised — it came as a shock,” Cotton said. “Obviously, I was preparing for another season with those guys but, I mean, business happens. I’m adjusting to it now and getting ready for next season.”
