Crazy for Hamilton to have this happen twice in the past couple of years but Fredo Plesius has decided to return to Laval for another year rather than suit up for the Ticats. He has NFL dreams and doesn't want to be stuck in a CFL contract for two years first.

A couple years ago Ray Wladichuk did the same thing except he even made the Ticat roster before changing his mind and heading back to Simon Fraser.

Calgary fans know how this is as Miguel Robede pulled the same thing.

Question to Average Joe fan how do you take this? Is it a negative to drafting guys out of Laval or do you want more screening/interviews of the players for teams to know who's looking south from day one?

Well I don't think it hurts the Ticts a ton. He would have been a good special teams player for them this year.

On top of it the update from Jim Mullins is that Arnaud Gascon-Nadon is also close to a return to Laval. Hamilton's draft class is getting weaker by the announcement.

What's the deal with this Draft Class? Sounds like Kirby Fabien and Carson Rockhill will both be back with the Dinos too after being drafted.

I'm going to guess it's the players at this point. They haven't signed and I'd guess that the teams would at least want them into training camp even if they are going to return to school. Didn't Matt Walter go through training camp last year even though he was going to go back to the Dinos? I can't remember off hand.

In related news the Bombers today signed Johnny Aprile, who I've taken the liberty of nick-naming Johnny November aka Johnny NO, who will be groomed as a DB/safety/return specialist.

This is my project player on CFL boards - as he'll soon get wind he's been dubbed JOHNNY NOVEMBER by Nickname Boy.....

    Looking forward to his debut.

Will be on www.cjob.com tonite somewhere between 5:30 and 7:00pm on CJOB's sports talk show with Jim 'Can't Stop Talking about my Hair' Toth....

I guess it begs the question - is it better to go back to school and be a starter or come to the CFL and possibly not get to play for scouts?

OTOH, If you aren't CFL starter caliber straight out of school, do you have a hope in hell of making the NFL within 2 years anyway?

I think it shows just how out of whack the salary cap is & how it needs to be changed. When players willingly go back to school it says TONS about the (lack of) money being offered rookies, especially first rounders. Two things I am learning about the CFL draft is don't draft a player from Saskatchewan or Laval as all they want to do is go back to the Motherland like a Newfie does. Stay away from Laval players. They all have NFL aspirations, big egos & have huge chips on their shoulders. They all seem to have NFL aspirations with no intertest in playing anywhere else in the CFL other than Montreal. Very parochial thinking. If the CFL was smart, they'd get a team into QC fast.
