If the Als can get decent service from 2 of the three cuts they'll be doing fine. In fact, if just one guy comes close to all-star status, its a no-brainer.

In Bomberland here's the excuses for not signing them

Byron Parker - "Don't like guys named Byron"

Q Porter - "Nate likes him, can't have that!"

Arland Bruce - "We already have enough locker-room cancer!"

They are older players (Parker & Bruce) & maybe there's a little gas left in the tank. A season or two. Pretty expensive gas if you ask me.

I suspect Popp picked up these rejects at a discount.

If Parker was a $135k man then $100k
If Bruce was a $165k man then $115k
If Porter was a $120k man then $90k

Bruce was reportedly signed to a 3-yr contract which is valid so long as you don't get cut. All CFL contracts are not guaranteed. Thats why they give guys signing bonuses to make up for this aspect.

Isn't the standard CFL contract 2 years + a team option?

CFL contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on. (read that in another forum somewhere).

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a CFL contract akin to a perpetual tryout agreeement?
