Preseason Week 1 Edmonton @ Calgary Date: Friday June 15th Time: 7:00 local TV/Radio: TSN2/QR77/630Ched Things to watch: Being the first pre-season game it will be interesting to see how many rookies and back ups from last year make it into the starting line up. Expect to see Drew Tate take the first half with an assortment of partners in the backfield. Also expect to see a wide assortment of the players still in camp get on the field. Evaluations made at game speed. Rosters need to be reduced by the 17th so players in battles will get a shot at earning a spot. Player to watch: Look forward to seeing 2012 Draft Picks Ameet Paul (first round) and Keenan MacDougall (third round) in their first experience of professional football and the difference between practice and games. Keys to the Game: Being pre-season the result doesn't matter as much as the individual aspects of the game, however in the short CFL pre-season schedule, teams like to win for their home fans so while the playbook will be vanilla the coaches will tighten up the ship if there's a chance to win it. Opposition - Thing to watch: Edmonton enters the year with the most questions at QB. Look for the Calgary defense to put some serious pressure on the QB to try and generate mistakes. They are also working with a new center and a new long snapper which could be a focus of the Calgary defense to test them out.
