Today is the day quebecers go to vote. Pauline Marois' PQ government expected to win a minority. Harper should have a lot of fun with her.
I remember the last time the PQ were in power. All we did was talk about ####### Quebec. We were so worried they'd go. I don't want 4 more years of that crap all over again. I wish they'd go. They wanna leave then go. And I don't want to hear that voters in Quebec voted PQ because they were tired of the Liberals so it really isn't a vote for separartism. If the PQ win then Quebecers voted in a separatist government. Tally up what Quebec owes Canada, give them the land they had at Confederation & tell them they need their own currency & buh bye.
Times have changed IMO. People don't seem to care so much or worry about a referendum or sovereignty. Even with her in power it's a long shot with only 33 per cent of the vote. Stock markets are not reacting to the news. Ontarians don't seem to give a damn. The liberals have been in power 9 years and since the Duplessis era no party has ever stayed any longer. It's their time and eventually they will be gone too. If the PQ was a virus I can say we've all been safely vaccinated against it.
I'll be watching the results come in and cheering for those idiots in "la bele province" to hopefully elect the most Socialist, furthest-left scumbags they can. I CAN'T WAIT to get this party started.
Deuvl, I hear you BUT... as a Canadian... I am tired of Quebec politicians hijacking the political agenda. I am tired of hearing my country just isn't good enough for those self entitled separatist bantards. All it's gonna be the next 4 years is the constitution this, the constitution that... Quebec wants this, Quebec wants that... we don't understand... we are a distinct society...We want out... but send us your money suckers... No, time for the rest of the country to tell Quebecers now that since you voted in a separatist government, it's time to think about packing up & moving out...
I don't think you really have to worry about that iso. Looks like a Minority government which is actually a Big victory for the feds. She may only last one year on the throne. However it will depend with whom the third party wishes to unite. Their leader was a former PQ minister supposedly now on the side of federalism. we'll see. The US election now is looking like a tight race with 2 months to go.
Go Mitt Go!! I guess you can tell that I am tired of QC politics... All I need now is a stage, podium, microphone & empty chair.
So they end up with a minority PQ gov't. Not great, but I guess when you're only options are: [Marxist Separatists] - [Hardcore Socialists] - [Liberals] And literally not a single viable party on the right (or even closer to the middle), you don't have much choice.
She ran on a platform of hatred & intolerance. Any surprise this happened? If anything, I am surprised it hasn't happened before. What a sad state of affairs this has become.
What timing though: just as she announced she wanted a 'sovereign Quebec' she got whisked away. Vince McMahon couldn't have planned it better. The perpetrator actually looks like one of his retired minions with his blue bath robe and black mask. Richard Henry Bain from the north Laurentians or 'Bane' as he's now known. Even looks like the one in the batman movie.
Deuvl, don't know your political affiliation but there is a lot of anger in the rest of the country towards Quebec. The separatists know they have it good. But they'd turn Quebec into a Third World country to get their dream of independence at any cost. The debt in Quebec is massive now. If & when Quebec is on its own, the deficit be tripled or quadrupled & everything will cost more as taxpayers will have to pay for everything themselves. The "country" of Quebec won't be able to afford to pay for healthcare, education & infrastructure. The money train from Western Canada will stop. I wonder how many years it will be before the "country" of Quebec will want back in??
I'm a Liberal federalist. We have right now 30% hardcore of those and 30% hardcore separatists and 40% soft on either side. That's the situation. We just have to make the best of it. I'm not the one you need to be lecturing on the subject.
Quebecers are just plain dumb! They complain about high taxes and no jobs! They continue to elect governments that kill jobs, raise taxes upon other taxes and spend billions on culture vs economic deverification. You have to hand to them they are just not smart voters.
Turns out they may not be so dumb after all as the separatists now trail by a wide margin according to polls. Liberals are set to win with 4 days to go. Just a matter of minority vs majority now. Philippe Couillard graduated from the same high school I went to.
