Exactly one month, less a day, ahead of the Calgary Stampeders’ exhibition opener, Keon Raymond is excited about one new addition this season.

Continuity on the defensive side of the ball.
“It makes a huge difference,” Raymond said of being able to develop together as a unit right from the get-go. “We’ll probably be on the same page like some of those guys from B.C. They’ve been playing together for a while — Korey Banks, Dante Marsh, Ryan Phillips — you get guys to have that continuity for a long time and you begin to get better, begin to trust guys.”

    Getting to know Keon Raymond
    from Stampeders.com

Entering his sixth year with the Stampeders, Keon Raymond is coming off a stellar 2012 season in which he was named both a West Division and CFLPA all-star.

Last season, he led the team and was second in the league with five interceptions including one he returned 100 yards for a touchdown. He also led Calgary with seven pass knockdowns and recorded 44 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and two sacks.

You probably know that Raymond just received his second Presidents’ Ring for his excellence on and off the field. You may remember that he set a Stamps record for longest interception return with a 117-yard dash for a touchdown in 2011 against the Riders. You certainly know that he won a Grey Cup with the Stampeders in 2008.
