According to another CFL chat site, the Stamps have cut MLB Joe Lobendahn loose. A nice promising training camp but a typical Samoa Joe injury that stalls Joe's entry to the regular season.

    Huff has had enuff!

Joe can take his act anywhere now!

Because of his age does his salary count against us for the entire year?

I don't get it. So what was the point of keeping him around and why cut him now?

Meanwhile Robert McCune, who was cut by the Stamps in favor of Lobendahn, is starting for an Argo defense that shut Cornish down which ultimately played a significant role in the Stamps' loss a week ago.

I think Huf wanted to bring in as many D-linemen and LBs as he could for training camp and push everyone to compete.

Simpson and Mayo must have shown better than McCune and Lobendahn.

The excuse on Joe is that he has BPD (Buck Pierce Disease) and he's also weak in intermediate pass coverage. Although he's a monster-stopper between the guards.

McCune is obviously better than Joe, far more versatile in the box but his age and salary worked against him.

Gone is the age where teams could play productive ageing vets - Herm Harrison, Wayne Harris, John Helton, Herb Gray, Ken Ploen, Leo Lewis, Frank Rigney, Tony Paj, etc. Seems 30 is the new 40 in the CFL; particularly at certain positions.

The salary cap stinks. it's way too low. McCune should still be here. Our smiling Commish should be pushing to increase it by at least a million dollars.

Only problem is that Moe Norman, Jr. (Braley) is already funding 1/4 of the league to the extent of millions per year. Don't think Mr. Braley wants to throw another 2 million into the wind. (which is what would happen if the cap boosts another million per team)

Should easily go another $250,000, $350,000, $500,000, $650,000 over next four years!
