Calgary Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the re-signing of national receiver Simon Charbonneau-Campeau. He was set to become a free agent in February. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The four-year CFL veteran has played the past two seasons in Calgary after beginning his career in Hamilton. The Universite de Sherbrooke product was selected by the Tiger-Cats in the 2012 CFL Draft and was acquired by the Stamps in a Jan. 6, 2014, trade.

In 2015, Charbonneau-Campeau recorded three catches for 34 yards before suffering a broken leg in the third game of the season. He returned to play in the Western Final and recorded a catch for 39 yards.

“Simon has shown an ability to make big plays as a receiver and he is also a solid contributor on special teams,” said Hufnagel. “I look forward to seeing what Simon can do over a full and healthy season.”

Charbonneau-Campeau’s had his best season in 2014 when he registered 13 catches for 233 yards and a touchdown as well as seven special-teams tackles in 14 regular-season games. He also played in the Western Final and recorded two catches for 74 yards including an impressive 61-yarder. He had one catch for 28 yards in the Grey Cup.

“I’m looking forward to what should be an exciting season,” said Charbonneau-Campeau. “With the stability of the organization and the quality of the coaches and the personnel, there’s no better place to play in the CFL. Last season didn’t end the way we wanted but we’re a contender year after year and I look forward to another great season.”

Wow, and here I was thinking the Stampeders had received a legal ruling in their favour from the highest court in the land, when I wasn't even aware they had anything before the courts at all...:p

The use of that acronym in the thread title is an "occupational attraction" for me I guess...;)

    Nice "misdirection play", Madman!:D

On topic, a great signing by the Stampeders as Hufnagel continues to rope in his own.
