Pittsburgh today released Shawn Llemon to make room for a db today.
Open the vault...
Come back Shawn.
I doubt we'll see him back any time soon. Steelers had him on the PUP list due to an achilles injury.
Nope he has be out right released to make room for a DB.
I never said he wasn't released to make room for someone else. I'm saying don't get your hopes up to see him back in Cgy anytime soon due to an injury.
I read somewhere on Twitter the
Bombers have been in contact with him ...... Did the Stamps release him or was his contract up? I would think if they released him he would give first dibs to the Stamps if he returned to the CFL
If I have my facts correct, I believe Lemon was about to enter free agency in February, but he approached the Stampeders and asked about an early release to allow him to pursue an opportunity with the Steelers.
The Stampeders granted him his request and released him from any remaining contractual obligations about 2 months early.
He is therefore now free to sign anywhere he wants, but I believe media reports at the time of his Stampeders release quoted Lemon as saying that if he didn't make the Steelers or another NFL squad, the only place in Canada he'd consider playing was with Calgary.
As it should be when a team graciously releases a player; should almost be a rule that if a team willingly releases you to pursue your dream you are obligated to finish the previous contract with that team if you choose to return to the CFL
I take your point, and I agree with you, but in this case Lemon was already virtually a free agent (with no contractual obligations left to the Calgary organization beyond remaining under contract to Calgary for a further couple of months over the winter when no games are played). So he really doesn't owe Calgary any part of a playing season.
Nevertheless, (I'm sure, in part, due to how he was treated as a player with the Stampeders, as well as owing to the fact that the Stampeders accommodated him with an early release into free agency when they did not have to do that), Shawn Lemon is on record as wanting to sign with this organization should he not realize his dream and find a place to stick in the NFL
He just landed with the 49ers!
Lemon has just been released by the 49ers.
Come back Lemon!!! We could use your services!! GO STAMPS GO!!
So, should he arrive, and lend a helping hand, will that be known as "Lemon-aid"?
As expected, the list is lengthy for suitors.
Ugh, really Shawn?
Come on Shawn...you can't be serious! Huff must be making sure he has a good size stash put away for Mr. Jones if a deal arises...
Sorry to hear that. Sucks to be Shawn.
Wow, that's a head scratcher for sure.
Guess Ottawa offered more than the playoff money in Calgary could have been.
