Any of us watching the Als-Riders game yesterday were shocked by his actions yesterday. Sucker punching Brendan Labatte in the the privates was certainly a disturbing thing to see but not surprising considering the kind of player he is.
I think what bothered me more after the crime was committed was the arrogant way he that he acted as he was being escorted to the locker room afterwards. He looked defiant & angry. Mouthing off as he was walking. No remorse. Like he would do it all again if he had the chance.
Then afterwards in the dressing room, Emery was talking to reporters & made the comment that "he lost his mind". However, his response to media questions looked rehearsed. To me I don't believe that he still was truly sorry that he low blowed Labatte. More likely Trestman or Popp made him go out & apologize while the Als PR department told him what to say.
I have to think that Marc Trestman is getting tired of his antics. He said Emery hurt his football team with his selfish antics. Jamal Richardson made a comment on the sidelines before the start of the 2nd half that Emery can't do things like that. Trestman is a classy guy & a great coach. He doesn't coach nor condone his players to act the way Emery does.
As he is a repeat offender, I wonder if Emery will be traded or released this off season? We all know the other 7 CFL teams would all try to sign him if he was a free agent but I think Trestman & Popp are getting weary of the way he plays & that they are going to do something with him.
Emery is a douche. A suspension & fine is warranted. If so, I don't think the Als would support him if there was an appeal. At least I hope not.

From player of the week to highlight of the year. Cornish's moon now pales in comparison.

What Emery did was a lot worse than what Cornish did. That was shocking. I mean, you just don't see things like that. There were 33,000 witnesses & another 750,000 at home... Crazy.

Funny to think stuff like that happened regularly in the olden days of CFL & NFL.... the days before TV coverage and multi-camera angles....

Your right ask any DL or OL player and I am sure this happens a lot out there. But Emry does play on the edge of stupidity. He has good talent but cement for a head.

Considering it was Saskatchewan GM Brendan Taman that was hurling insults at Emry as he was leaving the field, I think that says something too. Emry has been in the spotlight a fair bit with a player of the week award, the interview where he was talking about depression and his battles with it. Thanks to his talent and his passport I doubt he's on the short list of players to be replaced in Montreal.

Yeah, it's always someone else's fault... Bowman should just shut his mouth.

Dom Picard caught JC Sherritt in the same region without a suspension or a fine. People need to lighten up it's football and it happens.

I'd like to see 15 or 30 minute suspensions (akin to major or misconducts in hockey)

The suspension would be served in the next game - the opponent would decide on which quarter(s) the player would sit.

Rids, this isn't just about football & it happens... Emry is a thug who uses the lame insanity plea everytime to try to shrug off what he does. The guy is a douche & he'll do it again. Remember how he tried to take out Drew Tate?

He received a cheap shot and gave out a cheap shot. I believe that was the first game ejection for Emry in his career. A career that spans 70+ games. Emotions run high and things happen.

I know you love Dan Kepley and the intensity that he brought to the position so I'm not sure why you have a hate on for Emry as he's in the same mold.

Kepley played a lot of years & I never once saw him cheap shot an opponent. He played hard & he played clean unlike Emry. I have a hate on for any guys who sucker punches, hits low, piles on defenseless players & who selfishly put themselves ahead of their team. No room for guys like that in the game.
