Brad Sinopoli has been released by the Stampeders.
Again Stampeder faithful discuss...
tokenism as iso said.
Bo Levi Mitchell was the better qb. There was no denying tthat. But every Canadian qb got cut so hurrah, hurrah for bringing in CIS qbs to rookie camps across the CFL or signing guys like Kyle Quinlan as FA's only to cut them later. Or tutoring young CIS qbs stilll left with eligibility putting ideas in their heads that they can actually play in the league when they never will. Or keeping Sinopoli for a season then cutting him with no chance to put him on the PR. Signing all these gys was just PR moves by coaches & GMs in this league. The CFL doesn't want to change. Tokenism at its lowest.
At least they are getting looks and a chance to impress in training camp. If they aren't good enough to play the most important position in the game they shouldn't be on a roster IMO. QB talent right now is already pretty poor.
Getting a chance to impress??? Like seriously?? You actually believe that?? Erik it is a complete waste of time for any Canadian qb to even think they can impress, let alone ever really play in the CANADIAN Football League.
Remember a few years ago when Ron Lancaster came out & said that Canadian qbs are more trouble then they are worth because of the pressure fans put on teams to play them? That teams don't need the hassle from fans & the media if a Canadian qb does show he can actually play or start. Teams, it seems don't want to go there.
Sinopoli got 5 minutes vs Edmonton to impress. What did he get last night? The CFL HAS NO INTENTIONS of ever starting a Canadian qb long term. They do not want to develop them or they'd have already changed the rules so a guy like Sinopoli has a chance to develop. It's all lip service coming from the league, the Commish, General Managers & coaches.
The sad part is filling the heads of 19 & 20 year old CIS qbs that they actually have a chance to play in the CFL if they work hard when truthfully they never will. Smile on, Mark Cohon, smile on...
Well, I have to say I was disappointed to hear Sinopoli was cut, although when he wasn't given a chance to prove himself in the second Pre-season game it was suspect that this would happen. Have to say it was a slice being a Stamps fan for a year or so, but I'll follow them with less enthusiasm now. As you can tell by the name, a major CIS fan .......
Well I hope you stick around and join us in our CIS section too. We just love football here.
There's no Canadian qbs in the CFL now ArgoCister so you might as well stay here with us.
