The Calgary Stampeders have made a number of moves ahead of Tuesday’s CFL deadline for teams to reduce their roster to 65 players (excluding non-counters).

The following player has been signed:

    G.J. Kinne
    Quarterback
    College:
    Tulsa
    Height: 6.02
    Weight: 218
    Born: Dec. 1, 1988

Kinne signed with the National Football League’s New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and he has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Kinne is an alum of the University of Tulsa where in 2011 he threw for 3,090 yards and 28 touchdowns while running for 405 yards and three majors.

The following players have been released:

    • International linebacker Jared Brackens
    • International defensive lineman Quayshawne Buckley
    • International defensive back Travis Mannining
    • International quarterback Bryant Moniz
    • International receiver Chleb Ravenell
    • International defensive lineman Brandon Thurmond
    • International running back Reggie Whatley

Moniz dressed in 36 games for the Stamps over the past two seasons and completed two of four passes for 29 yards and one touchdown. He saw action as Calgary’s short-yardage quarterback and carried the ball 35 times for 98 yards and six touchdowns.

Thurmond played one game for Hamilton in 2014 while the other five players are CFL rookies.

Here's hoping Mr. Kinne is a good backup for BLM.

Right now if BLM goes down with injury the will be in trouble.

Otherwise no surprises on the roster moves.

Viewing the existing roster as it is presently, it would appear that the roster is still "thin" on talent along the D-line. More recruits shortly? The return of Bolden, does little in my mind, to instill confidence that the Stampeder D-line is capable of wreaking havoc on opposing offences.
