STAMPS ADD DEFENSIVE BACKS
The Calgary Stampeders have added international defensive backs Brandon McDonald and Keith Lewis. McDonald is added to the active roster while Lewis goes to the practice roster.
In eight games for the Ottawa RedBlacks this season, McDonald registered 33 tackles, two interceptions and three knockdowns.
McDonald previously played two games for the Stampeders in 2014 and recorded two defensive tackles and one special-teams tackle. After being released by Calgary, he signed with Ottawa and recorded six tackles in two games.
In 80 career National Football League games with the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he recorded 216 tackles, nine interceptions, two forced fumbles and one sack. In 2008, he returned a pick 98 yards for a touchdown.
Lewis attended training camp with the NFL’s New York Jets this season and was at Tampa Bay’s camp in 2014.
Collegiately, he played two seasons (2012-13) for Virginia University of Lynchburg. He had seven interceptions for the Dragons in 2013 including three that he returned for touchdowns and added 29 tackles and 15 pass breakups.
In other transactions, international defensive back Joe Burnett has been placed on the six-game injury list and international offensive lineman Nate Menkin has been released from the practice roster.
Brandon McDonald has taken some very dumb penalties thats hope he has learned not too.
Oh yeah, that's where I remember him from!
I couldn't recall him playing in Calgary before.
He's the kid Ottawa cut this summer a couple of days after he took a critical penalty in a game. He got an arm around his shoulders on the sidelines from Rick Campbell right after the play, then was released 2 days later...
I must say McDonald played well last game...Keep it up Brandon!
Yes McDonald for the most part concentrated in playing a tight game vs using his mouth he needs to do that more. You do not need to yap to opposing players do your yapping through your good play.
