In addition to Stanzi, the Stamps have brought in two younger options to compete at training camp.

Tyler Rogers was a New Mexico State Aggies standout who reports suggest brings a lot of mobility to the game, while Nick Arbuckle put up big numbers in two seasons with the Georgia State Panthers.

“We have looked hard at the quarterback position, you know, I think we had a different idea of how it would play out but no one’s job was necessarily locked-in except for Bo,” Dickenson said. “With Andrew retiring, Ricky is a guy who should step up and we’ll give him that opportunity.

“We’re trying to find the right mix of a guy I think can play and be a backup, and also look for some athletic guys who can potentially help you in our short yardage package.”

    UPDATE:
Nick Arbuckle signed to contract by Stamps May 17, 2018.

Long road for QB Rogers to Stamps training camp
A passport issue caused Tyler Rogers to miss the first day of Calgary Stampeders rookie camp.

The quarterback is on his way, though.

He’s just got to take the road less traveled to get to Calgary.

“It’s a crazy story, actually,” said Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson. “He’s flying to Great Falls, (Montana), my hometown, and my dad’s going to drive him to the border, and he’ll get picked up.”
Rogers was one of the 10 players who the Stampeders publicly revealed were on their negotiation list in February, and the NCAA New Mexico State Aggies product will be competing with Ricky Stanzi and Nick Arbuckle for the backup and third-stringer jobs behind starter Bo Levi Mitchell.

He threw for 4,016 yards and 27 touchdowns in 12 games in his final year of college ball and added seven rushing scores. That short yardage expertise could be a big asset in the competition for a job at training camp.

First, though, he has to get there.

“We’re working hard to get Tyler up here,” Dickenson said. “It’s going to be interesting when he sees a 78-year-old man picking him up at the airport.”
