A related story from Scott Mitchell.

Calgary Stampeders' running-back makeup likely to veer from all-Canadian content
The philosophy is changing. That’s what happens when you lose an all-time great like Jon Cornish to retirement.

A Canadian position for the Calgary Stampeders since No. 9 burst onto the scene midway through the 2011 season, the running back spot might no longer be predicated on the passport.

Cornish’s December decision kickstarted the change, and the surprising release of backup Matt Walter reinforced it.

While recently re-signed Toronto native Jerome Messam is still the starter and the Stampeders would absolutely love for him to be a productive 200-carry bell-cow in 2016, there could be more mixing and matching than ever before.
