Right at the wire of this year's CFL deadline, the Calgary Stampeders have traded K Tyler Crapigna, a 2016 3rd round pick and an undisclosed negotiation list player to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for RB Jerome Messam and a 2016 5th round pick.

    Here is the official release:

The Calgary Stampeders have acquired national running back Jerome Messam and a 2016 fifth-round draft pick from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for national kicker Tyler Crapigna, a 2016 third-round draft pick and an undisclosed negotiation-list player.

A seven-year CFL veteran, Messam currently sits second in the CFL rushing race with 826 yards — just 40 yards back of BC’s Andrew Harris — and is averaging 6.1 yards a carry. He has two rushing touchdowns and also has 47 receptions for 464 yards.

In seven seasons BC, Edmonton, Montreal and Saskatchewan, Messam has 586 carries for 3,090 yards and 14 touchdowns and 126 catches for 1,296 yards.

The draft pick acquired by the Stamps originally belonged to Montreal and was acquired by Saskatchewan earlier in the day in the deal that sent Kevin Glenn to the Alouettes.

Crapigna was a fifth-round selection by the Stampeders in the 2014 draft. He did not see any regular-season action with the Red and White.

In other transactions, the Stamps have released international receiver Joe Anderson, national receiver Matthew Norzil and international defensive lineman Brandon Thurmond from the practice roster.

    Good pickup I guess???
    What happens to Walters?
Too bad the Stamps couldn't pickup another olineman.

Could be an awesome 1 /2 punch in the backfield; Messam always seemed like a threat when we played Edmonton and Saskatchewan.
I too would have like to see an O lineman coming in.
Wonder if they're starting to worry about Cornishs' injury history?

Everything I have heard is that this was a direct result of the O-Line ratios and having to start 2 Import tackles and had nothing to do with Cornish's injury, (past or present).
