Signing Stamps Add Four Receivers

    The Stampeders have added four international receivers to their rookie-camp roster, including Reggie Begelton, A.J. Cruz, Darius Davis and Marken Michel.
    Reggie Begelton, #84
    Receiver
    College: Lamar
    Height: 6-foot-2
    Weight: 201 lb.
    Born: Aug. 31, 1993
    International

    Begelton attended rookie mini-camp with the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons in 2016. He also had a tryout with the Oakland Raiders. He graduated as Lamar University’s all-time leader in catches (227) and yards (2,435) and was second in touchdowns catches with 20. Begelton was first-team all-Southland Conference in 2015 and a second-team selection in both 2013 and 2014.

    A.J. Cruz, #78

    Height: 5-foot-8
    Weight: 193 lb.

    Cruz has spent time in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. He signed with the Arena Football League’s Los Angeles KISS in 2014 and joined the Arena league’s Arizona Rattlers in 2015. In two arena seasons, Cruz returned 110 kicks for 2,584 yards and seven touchdowns and also had 32 catches for 244 yards and six scores and 11 carries for 46 yards and three touchdowns. Cruz played four seasons as a defensive back at Brown University and was first-team all-Ivy League on three occasions (2010, 2011 and 2012) and second-team all-conference as a defensive back in 2009 and as a special-teamer in 2012.

    Height: 5-foot-11
    Weight: 219 lb.

    International

    Davis signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He played four seasons at Henderson State and, in his senior season, he was voted an American Football Coaches Association all-American after recording 56 catches for 1,261 yards and 18 touchdowns in 11 games. He left Henderson State as the school’s all-time career leader in receiving yards (3,686), catches (178) and receiving touchdowns (47).

    Marken Michel, #72
    Receiver
    College: Massachusetts
    Height: 5-foot-11
    Weight: 193 lb.
    Born: July 6, 1993
    International

    Michel originally signed with the Stampeders on Oct. 12, 2016, and spent two-and-a-half weeks on the practice roster. He signed with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016, and attended training camp. Michel played four seasons at UMass and made 92 catches for 1,016 yards and six touchdowns.
