A QB school by Drew Tate, $25,000 football toss, signed boxes of Cornish Flakes and appearances by Calgary Stampeders are only a few of the highlights in the ‘Let the Games Begin’ gala fundraiser for an outdoors multi-sports artificial turf this Saturday.

Being held at the Cochrane Toyota, the event is as much a celebration as it is a fundraiser for the development of the town’s first outdoor artificial turf by the Cochrane Lions Football Society.
Stamps president Gordon Norrie, head coach John Hufnagel, QB Drew Tate, Cochrane’s Rob Cote and Stamps alumni are among the guests at the event. It’s being emceed by Jock Wilson, of QR770, who will be doing a roundtable quarterback will be anchoring a roundtable conversation with Hufnagel, John Couture, associate superintendent of business and operations at Rocky View School Division, and Cochrane school trustee Fiona Gilbert.

Cam Cote, a member of the field fund raising committee, said he’s thrilled Hufnagel is participating and it’s rare for him to make appearance at this time of the year.
“The answer is usually a flat ‘no’ during training camp,” said Cote.
There’s lots of incredible silent and live auction items up for grabs, too. They include a Golf Experience at the Links of GlenEagles, Stamps Game Day experience that includes four premium tickets and sideline passes, NFL tickets, signed and personalize Stamps jerseys, an autographed Evan Longoria (Tampa Bay Rays) baseball bat and much more.

The gala begins at 6 p.m. For your invitation to this event email: [email protected].
Momentum continues to builds around the fundraising drive that will result in the development of this multi-sport field on the grounds of Bow Valley High School. The field will use FieldTurf, the same product recently installed at McMahon Stadium and be lit for evening use and initially include seating for 500. The project is being overseen by Morrison Hershfield.

The gala is just one component of the fundraising drive. There are multiple ways to contribute anywhere from $100 to $100,000 and all contributors will be recognized. Sponsorship opportunities include field, lights, turf, signage and bleachers.
