    Stamps notebook, Nov. 6: Defensive tackle battle begins

    The battle for jobs usually takes place in June.
    But when you lose both of your starting defensive tackles for the season in one night — as the Calgary Stampeders managed to do in Week 19 — the battle begins anew.

    Five players are vying for the game reps left by the departed Demonte’ Bolden (MCL sprain) and Micah Johnson (ACL tear) over the next 10 days, and each man is different.

    There’s Junior Turner, the 264-lb. non-import.

    There’s fellow non-import Etienne Legare, the 275-pounder who was acquired in a draft day trade with the Edmonton Eskimos.

    Both have been regulars in the tackle rotation this season.

    There’s also import Freddie Bishop III, who saw action in two games early in the season, but for the most part, the 251-pounder has plied his trade on the practice squad.
