What a bunch of whiners calling in to the after-game show last night...

So I'm listening to the post-game show on the ride home from a buddies house last night after dropping him off, and 3 or 4 people in a row called in to complain about the attendance (or rather, the lack thereof).

For a NOTHING game, on a cold and windy Friday evening, when the game was on TV, I think we did pretty good with the 9-10k people that showed up to watch.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised that many people came. I thought it was a good turnout.

True enough, attendance hasn't been great this year, but that's what happens when you show every second of action on TSN.

The attendance wasn't very good. However, the people that showed up did not include tickets already sold. What hurt the attendance of course, was the weather as well as the fact that the game meant nothing in the standings. That & the fact that the Stamps haven't beaten the Lions since what, 2010 ? & got pasted here by them in early August. But the league has to televise the games. They learned from the blackouts that it actually hurts the team more to not show the games than to televise them locally. Look at the S. Ontario market now from the blackouts of the 80's & the consequences of that. What this tells you is that all new CFL football stadiums in Western Canada need permanent or retractable roofs but of course, we won't spend the money to build them now, will we? So, it is what it is.

If 9,000 were there then that means 1 in 3 tickets sold showed up. That's not an encouraging stat at all.

No, but this isn't 1980 anymore. People want comfort. You don't get that in late October in Calgary. The answer is that we need climate controlled stadiums with permanent roofs but it ain't gonna happen. I don't know what the answer is.

Most likely riderfans they are always bitching about attendance everywhere else.
As long as people purchased the seats it really does not matter.

They need to replace the metal benches for one and maybe put a heater strip under the seats if your feet and butt are warm then the weather can be tolerated for most.

There's a lot of things we need as far as Stamps fans go, but we all know it ain't gonna happen.

Where it hurts teams are in the playoffs as people have to purchase tickets for individual games... So, if 14,500 show up that means 14,500 bought tickets.

Anyone with a season ticket package probably also bought the playoff ticket as well (as part of their package).

If there are 15k seasons tickets, that's an automatic 15k tickets sold to the playoff game.

Season ticket holders have a right to decline their seats for the playoffs, right SR?

No it's part of the package. You buy 11 tickets a year and if they don't host a playoff game the credit goes to your next year package. At least that's how the blues are treated.

our season ticket renewal just started. looks like prices will remain the same so we're not likely to sink down further in season ticket holders.
