The guy is an idiot. You think a tour of Ft. McMurray as well as the oilsands will make him change his mind? He's all about Quebec first, Southern Ontario second & pitting one region against another third. He is a divisive politician. Let him, his nutbar socialist party & their supporters freeze their collective asses off as far as I am concerned.

I would Nate but to me it's pretty clear all Mulcair cares about is Quebec & Ontario & will support a wealth transfer from the West back to Ontario & Quebec. Take jobs from out here & give them to the East where his power base is. Don't trust the man, his party or his motives. Like I say, he is a divisive politician.

I agree with Bronko; Mulcair's message is really fantastic.

I also think we should shut the oil sands down and run everything on unicorns and solar power, the problem is that none of that is based in REALITY.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that NDP'ers want to live in this fantasy utopia where everyone gets along, there is no racism, no cancer, and no one ever has their feelings hurt.

Unfortunately, life is a cruel *female dog* and it'll never be the utopia that they dream about.

Frankly, I hope that in the next election he wraps up the entire eastern vote.

I'm not a typical "Alberta should separate from Canada" kind of supporter, but in Mulcair wins big next time, I think that you'll see a major resurgence of this line of thinking.

The sooner we start to realize that Canada is a naturally divided country based on east/west lines (be it Saskatchewan or Manitoba....or maybe even Western Ontario) and that it is no longer efficient or productive to govern the entire country as one huge block; the sooner we can get back to work defending our interests.

Tell you what, if the NDP or Libs get in to form a government & some kind of resource wealth transfer tax comes in like the NEP in 1981, I'm all for separating. Why would I want to stay in a country where we get villified just because oil & gas is here in Alberta? We all know how different things would be if Alberta's oil & gas were in Quebec & Ontario. Those 2 provinces would be raping the rest of the country. there'd be no talk of "sustaining" the oil sands like we heard from that nutbar Mulcair yesterday. Especially those French speaking "Arabs" in Quebec. They just looooove the colour of money now, don't they? Why should Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC & Newfoundland be blamed for something we didn't do like a high dollar? If the politicians in Ontario could care less about job losses here in Alberta by muzzling the oil sands then why should I care about the maufacturing sector & jobs tanking in Ontario? Get efficient so you can compete on the world stage you bunch of lazy Eastern bastards & quit depending on a low Canadian dollar for your manufacturing sector to make money.

Hey, if nutbar Mulcair doesn't like the oilsands, we can gladly turn the taps off and end all transfer payments to his "have-not" provinces.

Front page headline in today's Calgary Herald: "Oilsands tour fail to away Mulcair: NDP leader maintains industry has hidden costs." Jeez, why am I not surprised??? So, we lay out the red carpet for clowns like Mulcair & James Cameron. What a joke. If they want to find out more about the oilsands, let them pay for it.
